The People Are Not Afraid

Tens of thousands of Syrians took to the streets today and were met by Assad's forces who once again fired on the protesters, casualties are high. After lifting the state of emergency, in effect for 48 years, Assad has used his personnel to quell the unrest with violence, loading some civilian buses with security forces and using other laws and penal codes to enforce his reign. Assad's concessions are no longer very meaningful and he remains a target to be overthrown in the eyes of the people.
