Weekend Thoughts
As I gazed down the Las Vegas Strip last night, I thought, we as people often lose money to be happy. We sacrifice small opportunity costs to finance hope. Though we have the desire to win, we enter into opportunities of unfavorable odds and attempt to "win big." I would argue that most people are predisposed to losing. There is some reward to the hypnotizing and fanciful nature of many casino games and it is not money, it is simply the feeling we could get a lot for a little. As a former professional poker player, I have seen a great deal of psychological patterns that are often mimicked in the market. The upward trajectory and natural ebb and flow of the markets often lend themselves to amplifying disillusion and irrational exuberance in this losing mentality from penny stocks to AAA rated bond issues. Most of us want it all, and no one will ever have it.
Our loses are our greatest opportunity to learn from the past, don't let them go to waste.
I concur.
