Gunmen in Northeast Nigeria Kill 16 People in Attack: Gombi Shocked

Among the dead were five police, a soldier and 10 civilian bank customers.

Nigerian authorities suspect an Islamic group named Boko Haram to be behind the attacks on two banks and two police stations.

“Sixteen people were killed in all following attacks by gunmen on two police stations and two banks,” local government chairman Ahmad Isa Hassan said. “The attackers were armed with explosives and automatic rifles with which they attacked their targets ... For now we suspect the attackers were armed robbers.”
